a) -Design of an advisory project for the research department of the Indonesian Ministry of Trade

Structure and performance of the Ministry’s research section were assessed. In the light of developments within the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and export sectors / potentials, proposals regarding an advisory project under German bilateral assistance were conceived. Key was strengthening the research departments effectiveness in policy advice.

Progress assessment of the EDF-funded Trade Development Project in Jamaica. By means of the EDF, the European Commission had initiated a project aimed strengthening institutional capacities – notably extension services to smaller exporting firms – and to help improve the export environment. Project activities delivered by RegioFuturi comprised: Business survey (SWOT) – assessment of the export support environment along with training of JAMPRO staff in structured, questionnaire-based survey techniques. Review of institutional capacities of JAMPRO. Recommendations for project adaptation and better co-ordination among players in the business support context.
